Wife, Mother, Teacher, Speaker...
Rebecca serves alongside her pastor-husband, Michael, at Dolen Baptist Church in Cleveland, Texas, supporting him and ministering as Bible Study teacher and church pianist.
The two met and married, more than twenty years ago, as students at Howard Payne University, where Rebecca earned degrees in English and Spanish. Currently, she teaches at Shepherd High School, where, in addition to her teaching responsibilities, she sponsors the student led Christian organization on campus, Kingdom Seekers.
Rebecca and Michael are “practicing” the empty nest, as their youngest of three closes in on high school graduation. Her busy schedule gives the couple more leisurely Saturday mornings and quiet evenings than any other time in the last twenty-something years; just a glimpse of what’s around the corner for them. However, they are also learning the ropes of grandparent-hood, as their son and his wife recently blessed them with their first grandchild. Their middle child is a college student, making her way in the world of the adult, with all its pitfalls and exciting experiences. Rounding out the Sunday dinner table is “Paw-Paw", Michael’s aging father who lives with them.
Rebecca is enjoying this transition time, even with the challenge of learning to grocery shop for a shrinking household. She clings to the wisdom of the Lord through King Solomon, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens…” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). Her prayer is, “Lord, help me to recognize the season I am in and to embrace it. Help me not to wish it away or even to hold on too tightly. Though things change, You are constant. I will trust you in every season of my life. Amen.”
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
"Rebecca is passionate about teaching...her message is clear and she is open and vulnerable as she speaks."
